- Newsgroups which are a good place to go for information or supply answers to people. I have submitted a request to add alt.rec.hiking to the list of newsgroups. Maybe if a few more people did the same, it would happen.
- American Park Network
- A newsgroup style of bulletin board concentrating on The National Parks.
- Backpack Chat
- Chat page that includes hikers. I've never tried this. Let me know what you think of it.
- GORP Message Board
- A bulletin board of threads on hiking. A separate section is available for Southwest hiking.
- Backpacker Magazine Forums
- Includes a Southwest Destination Forum.
Health Tips
- Bite Fright
- Advise on what to do should you cross the path of a poisonous snake, or get bit by one.
- Desert Survival

- About Hiking
- Online effort from the people at Mountain Zone.
- Arizona Highways
- Highlights in this online effort of Arizona's best-known magazine are the Hike of the Month, Virtual Visit, and Wildlife Portfolio.
- Backpacker's Basecamp
- Quality effort which includes several interactive areas in addition to a couple of new articles each week. It's hard to get bored at this site.
- Cyberwest Magazine
- Very good articles with a wide variety of outdoor topics. This effort is affiliated with GORP.
- Desert USA

- How did I ever miss this one? New content is added weekly. Highlights include Desert Life where you will find pictures and descriptions of animals, plants and the native people of the desert. I entered "Arizona" in their Search Engine and got 65 links to articles. I particularly enjoyed Shay Summers' entertaining account of Hiking the Grand Canyon.
- GORP - Greater Outdoor Recreation Pages

- Great source for outdoor activities. I have included most AZ related info that they have in my links, but there is all kinds of other useful information here to be had.
- Mountain Zone - Hiking

- Online magazine from Mountain Zone with a page set aside for hiking. This is one of the best online efforts for Hiking worldwide.
- Outside Online Magazine

- Excellent online magazine for outdoor activities. Periodically check their articles for AZ related information. Excellent search engine of archives.
- Sierra and The Planet
- Thought provoking magazines full of political articles from the Sierra Club. For an archive of Arizona-related articles use their search engine to enter "Arizona."
Weather
- NOAA

- If it is in-depth weather you are looking for, this is the site you want. Grand Canyon link includes Colorado River forecast. NOAA has three regional sites online - Flagstaff, Phoenix & Tucson.
- U.S. National Weather Service

- Click on a city for the most complete page on the internet covering current conditions. Text page links are available for storm watches, forecasts, summaries, etc.
- USA Today
- Click on a city for current conditions. Includes current conditions and forecasts for next 5 days.
- Weather Underground

- Click on a city for present condtions and 2-day forecast. Very thorough list of current conditions includes times for sunrise & sunset, as well as moon rise & phase. The Grand canyon page is one of the only two places I have found forecasts at the Colorado River.
- Yahoo! Weather
- Has present conditions, forecast for 4 days, and extended forecast.
