IRC

Irc has got to be one of the greatest methods of talking with other like-minded people on the net. There's a page devoted to Linux-oriented channels that I recommend checking out. These channels are all on EFnet. Here's a list of EFnet servers for anyone who can never remember one IRC network from another (like me).

There are quite a few newsgroups devoted to Linux. Here's the list.

comp.os.linux.announce - Announcements. Moderated.
comp.os.linux.answers - FAQs, How-To's, READMEs. Moderated.
comp.os.linux.development - General Development.
comp.os.linux.development.apps - Applications development.
comp.os.linux.development.system - System development.
comp.os.linux.hardware - Hardware issues.
comp.os.linux.help - Q and A time.
comp.os.linux.misc - Miscellaneous.
comp.os.linux.networking - Networking and communications issues.
comp.os.linux.setup - Installation and system administration.

Mailing Lists

There are a zillion mailing lists devoted to Linux. Mailing lists are a great way to communicate with a large group of people about a focused topic. Check the Linux Mailing Lists site. It gives you a complete listing and allows you subscribe and unsubscribe to any of the mailing lists automatically.


Linux Users Groups

LUGs exist around the world to allow people to gather locally in person to do Linux stuff. Linux Online has a comprehensive list of user groups. So go there.
